2020 Update On The Fitness Journey

2020 so far has been of course a roller coaster ride for everyone, but very interesting to me to which a lot of things are put into perspective. In terms of fitness, it made me realize that it is okay to go back and re-learn the basics so I can then prosper with a better understanding of what I am doing. I’ve taken more time to get my entertainment not from watching TV or playing video games but reading different books to enrich my mind on different subjects. It also made me see that health should not be taken for granted since people are tested positive and the numbers of deaths are still climbing from the Coronavirus (COVID-19). My intaking food intake also changed, since most restaurants are outdoor dining until the end of this month and delivery. It made me realized that I don’t even need to always think about going out to eat and to better my nutrition.

The growth that I am noticing now is way different than in March. I was mainly thinking of how I will be stuck at home the majority of the time to this new change since I love to make sure I go outside every day. Also from a training perspective how can I make it work? Well when you believe something you want to do is obtainable, it will happen. I told myself that being productive and learning about myself more when the situation is limited will be the driving force for growth. “Growth does not happen in the comfort zone,” they say, and making changes to still get things done is vital to continue to not lose out. As much as movements are limited, I made sure I’ve gone outside for fresh air when there are things I needed (mainly food). I’ve even started to watch a lot more culinary channels on YouTube to find different recipes to get my nutrition better which is never easy, believe me, but taking it one day at a time helps.

My mobility is improving and I felt like I’ve finally in my mind starting to get clear from practice why natural movements and animal flow are so beneficial to long term health and maintenance. Not only I am working on flexibility but I am working on stability, strength, balance, coordination, endurance, conditioning, power, and healing my neuromusculoskeletal system in a natural way. Opening up tight areas and making other areas more stable. It would make sense since we move realistically from a rotational standpoint, so training your body and mind to more endlessly and dynamic is essential for better movement. To me it’s way more fun than just doing static stretching, I would take the time if I was you to do more research on natural movement/animal flow and try it out.

Bookwise, I’ve downloaded so many eBooks that I am not even bored at this point, I downloaded a lot of science base eBooks (biology, kinesiology, biomechanics, exercise physiology, and many more) because I felt like to fully grasp and understand fitness, you have to take the time to understand the foundation of the human body of its performance and recovery. I felt like reading science books now is way more natural and better than back in school. I’ve also downloaded eBooks on recovery, training methods, and nutrition. All of that will help me to understand the complex language of fitness in the years to come.

For me, I just have to be positive and do positive things for the growth of myself and others that need the support and advice to keep getting better in these trouble times. Having health and movement as much as possible is the main thing than materialistic and fast life things and taking it one step at a time is vital.

Stay Strong, Stay Game!
